SAIC Congressional Affairs Analyst in WASHINGTON, District Of Columbia

Description

SAIC is seeking a Congressional Affairs Analyst to join the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense / Readiness (OASD-R). This position will support Front Office operations, focusing on legislative and congressional communications and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in legislative processes, policy analysis, and government relations. This role is onsite at the Pentagon .

Job Duties:

  • Provide expert analysis and advice on legislative and congressional matters pertinent to the OASD-R team and vertical lines of communication.

  • Monitor and track legislation and policy developments relevant to defense readiness and related areas.

  • Liaise with the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) and Senate Armed Services Committee( SASC).

  • Prepare briefings, reports, and other documentation for senior OSD leadership.

  • Work with congressional offices, government agencies, and other stakeholders on behalf of OASD-R.

  • Coordinate and support meetings, hearings and other engagements with Congress.

  • Work with Deputy Assistant Secretary Defense (DASD) offices in working groups and to collaborate on policy and formal responses congressional inquiries.

  • Maintain comprehensive records and databases related to legislative affairs.

  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for legislative outreach and advocacy.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, or a related field and fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in legislative affairs, policy analysis, or government relations.

Required Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI (US Citizenship required).

Required Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of congressional processes and legislative procedures.

  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex legislative and policy issues.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality reports and briefings.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with congressional staff and other stakeholders.

  • High level of attention to detail with excellent research and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience working directly with or within congressional offices.

  • Familiarity with Department of Defense policies and procedures, especially those related to readiness.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and legislative advocacy.

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
